Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can I play more than one tournament?
This depends on the type of tournament you are wishing to enter.
For Halo and Call of Duty tournaments we discourage entering more than one due to strict time
    constraints with those schedules.
If you are wanting to enter fighting game tournaments, you can enter any or all of these as each fighting game is organised to run without major clashes.
Get in touch with us and we can let you know if the combination you are wanting to enter will be possible.
  • What do I get for my spectator pass price?
    Spectator passes include:
    – Entry to the event for Saturday & Sunday (Unless a single-day pass is purchased at the Event)

    – Entry into spot prize draws
    – Entry into mini-tournaments
    – Free play kiosks with a variety of different games
    – Goodie bag (while available)
  • What are the prizes?
Prizes are dependent on the event sponsors and number of teams in each tournament.
Keep an eye out for sponsor announcements and for a rough estimate on cash prizes check out the Event tab above.
  • I just want to play for fun – can I still enter?
Definitely! Our events cater for every level of gamer, from completely social to super competitive. Everyone is welcome!
  • What do I need to bring?
Equipment requirements vary depending on the tournament you are wanting to enter. Check out the information tab for your tournament to see what is required.
  • What is the age restriction?
Our events are restricted by the game with the highest age restriction. This is usually R16.
  • I want to play but I don’t have a monitor – Can I borrow one?
Most likely – We have a limited number of spare monitors available for use throughout the event, with priority given to those who have large TVs at home they can’t transport or gamers who are having to fly long distances for the event. Get in touch and we will let you know what we have available.
  • I want to compete but I don’t have a team
No problem! We can help you find teams who are looking for additional players or help you find other players who are also in the same situation. Feel free to Tweet @AvTGaming, post on the Facebook event page, or just register without a team and we can put you on our ‘Looking for Team’ list.
  • I use WIFI at home so don’t have an ethernet cable
We have plenty of ethernet cables available for purchase at the event for $5.
Simply come and see us to grab one or get in touch before the event to have one waiting for you.
  • Can I bring my laptop or PC with me as well?
Due to limited bandwidth and specific network configurations, AvT disallows the use of additional PCs or laptops on the LAN network. You are more than welcome to bring your laptop to the event, just note that connection to the internet may not be possible.
  • Can I bring my own power board?
AvT supplies all power boards so no need to bring your own. Due to our power distribution, additional power boards may overload the network. If you need additional plugs let an event crew member know.
  • When is payment cutoff?
    Earlybird (Halo/CoD): 20th December
    Standard (All tournaments): 17th January
Special considerations can be made if we are contacted before the standard payment cutoff.
  • Can I pay at the door?
There are no door sales for tournament passes.
Spectator passes can be purchased at the door throughout the weekend.
Two day spectator passes can be purchased on the door for $30, or single day passes for $15.
  • Can I use a modded controller / Kontrol Freeks / Elite Controller / Scuf?
We do not allow the use of modded controllers (such as rapidfire), however the use of tournament approved equipment such as Kontrol Freeks, Xbox Elite controller and Scuf controllers are allowed. If you are unsure it is always best to get in touch before the event to find out.
  • I don’t want to enter a tournament, can I just bring my console and play?
Sure! Provided we have space to accommodate you, we are more than happy to reserve a space at the standard spectator rate. Get in touch with us first to make sure there’s space available and then simply purchase a spectator pass.

  • Can I stream from my console at the event?
Due to limited bandwidth at the event, we disallow the use of individuals streaming from their console. Main stage games will be streamed through our Twitch channel at http://www.twitch.tv/adversitygaming
